We were delighted to welcome our former pupil, Megan White, back to Our Lady's Grammar School to speak to our Year 14 students about @dementia_friends.
Megan delivered an inspiring and highly interactive session, raising awareness of dementia and highlighting the care, compassion and respect we should show to every individual affected by this condition. She challenged common misconceptions, reminding us that dementia is not a natural part of ageing, not caused by diseases of the brain, and not just about memory loss. Most importantly, she emphasised that there is always more to the person than the dementia and that a little understanding can make a big difference.
We are very grateful to Megan for such an informative and thought-provoking talk. By the end of the session, everyone proudly became a Dementia Friend, receiving their pins and information leaflets.
